Colorado boy’s stepmother Gannon Stauch first appeared in court on Tuesday to be charged with his murder.
Gannon, 11, has not been seen alive since he left his home with his stepmother Letecia on January 27.
Letecia was arrested Monday in South Carolina on charges of murder of a child under the age of 12 by a person in a position of trust, child abuse resulting in death, and tampering with a corpse.
The police don’t know where Gannon’s body is or what happened to him.
On Tuesday, Letecia appeared before a judge to refrain from extradition back to Colorado.
She did not seem to understand much of the legal process and told the judge that she had not spoken to a lawyer, but later said: “I did not run away from you.
“I don’t want to make any problems with you.”
She abandoned her extradition after the judge explained it to her. The Colorado authorities must pick her up within 20 days.
Letecia Stauch appeared on Tuesday via a video link in a court in South Carolina. The police don’t know where 11-year-old Gannon is, but they don’t believe he’s alive
Letecia is married to Gannon’s father Albert.
She originally told the authorities that she last saw her stepson, Gannon, between 27.15 and 16.00 on 27 January. She then said he was on his way to a friend’s house in Colorado Springs.
Gannon was originally categorized as a runaway before his case was upgraded to that of a missing / threatened person.
But on Monday the police announced that they no longer think he is alive.
They also announced charges against Letecia.
The police have not yet explained their theory about what happened to him or where they think he is.
On Monday, Lt Mitch Mihalko said at a press conference: “We don’t believe Gannon is alive.
“Our work is just beginning … while we continue our unwavering pursuit of justice for Gannon and his family.”
Stauch sometimes seemed confused during the hearing and asked the judge about extradition procedures
Judge Clifford L. Welsh told her that she had the chance to refrain from extradition
The authorities have indicted Letecia for charges including the murder of a child under 12 years of age

Authorities announce that they don’t believe Gannon is alive, but they haven’t found his body. The investigation is still ongoing
Gannon’s father Albert issued a statement that he was shocked by the news.
“My little boy is not coming home. We will never play Nintendo again. No more taco Tuesdays. No more smooth-looking haircuts. And no more G-man for the world.
“The person who committed this horrible, terrible crime is one that I gave more to someone else on this planet, and that is a burden I will carry with me for a long time,” it was said.
The boy’s mother, Landen Hiott, appeared at the press conference.
She cried when she said she hoped that Letecia would have to pay for what she reportedly did.
Surveillance video of a neighbor’s house meant that Stauch left the house with Gannon in her pick-up on January 27 around 10.13 am.
However, when she returned at 2.19 pm, Gannon is nowhere to be found.
Images from 2.19 p.m. until the time that Gannon was reportedly last seen are not available, but the sheriff’s office said earlier that officers had no surveillance video on which the boy left the premises.
After watching the video, a friend said the boy’s father “just gave up and started saying” she lied, she lied about time. ”
In an interview before her arrest, Letecia insisted that she had nothing to do with the boy’s disappearance or death.
“After the news about the video became known, Stauch gave an interview to KKTV, in which it was stated that she played no role in the disappearance of her stepson.
“I’ve been taking care of us for the past two years because his mother didn’t want to do it,” she said.
“I would never, never, hurt this child … these people have these conspiracy theories … I am like,” Why do you say Gannon is dead? ” He is not dead. We’re gonna find Gannon. ”
