Harrowing new footage appears to capture the moment a Venezuelan armed gang took control of an apartment complex in Aurora, Colorado.

In the video released on Wednesday, alleged members of the Tren de Aragua gang can be seen standing outside the door of a unit.

A man in a dark sweatshirt holds what appears to be an assault rifle and knocks on the door. Another man casually holds a pistol at waist level.

Other members of the gang then run up the stairs, carrying weapons. In the background, the men can be heard speaking Spanish to each other.

At the end of the video, the door opens and all the gangsters enter the apartment. At this point, it is not clear what their objective was.

The people who filmed the video said: Fox which was recorded shortly before a shooting at the complex that left one person seriously injured.

Several vehicles were also damaged in the exchange of fire.

The video was recorded at the apartment complex where Cindy and Edward Romero lived until Wednesday.
