Game of Thrones launches another 10,000 ships spin-off from Person of Interest and Helstrom writer Amanda Segel

The Game of Thrones universe is being fleshed out even further on HBO, with the network moving forward with one of its three new spin-offs, 10,000 Ships.

The network has asked Amanda Segel (Helstrom, Person of Interest) to write the script for the project, according to Deadline.

10,000 Ships was one of three new Thrones spin-offs announced in March, along with 9 Voyages (aka Sea Snake) and Flea Bottom.

10,000 ships will take place about 1,000 years before the events depicted in the Game of Thrones TV series, based on George RR Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire novels.

The new series follows the journey of Princess Nymeria, along with the other surviving members of the Rhoynars.

The show chronicles their journey from Essos to Dorne, after they were defeated by the Valyrian Freehold during the Second Spice War.

Princess Nymeria was a character admired by many in Westeros and Essos who is named after two characters in the books and the series.

One of the deadly ‘Sand Snakes’ – the daughters of Oberyn Martell (Pedro Pascal) and Ellaria Sand (Indira Varma) – was named Nymeria Sand in her honor, played by Jessica Henwick.

Maisie Williams’ Arya Stark named her beloved direwolf Nymeria, after this beloved princess.

Series 9 Voyages (aka Sea Snake) is being developed by Bruno Heller, creator of Rome and Gotham, along with author Martin.

That show will follow the ‘great voyages at sea made by Corlys Velaryon on board the Sea Snake ship’.

The title of the Flea Bottom series refers to ‘poorest slum’ in King’s Landing, described as ‘a maze-like tangle of narrow streets and dark alleys full of tanneries, brothels and beer houses’.

It is unclear who will be writing or producing the Flea Bottom spin-off series for the network at this point.

HBO already has one Game of Thrones spin-off in production, House of the Dragon, which will debut in 2022.

That series follows the rule of House Targaryen, who ruled Westeros for more than 300 years before Robert’s rebellion.
