Galatasaray are reportedly planning to make a £42million bid for Victor Osimhen in January as they look to make his loan from Napoli permanent.
After being repeatedly linked with a move away from the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona this summer, Osimhen joined the Turkish club on a season-long loan in September.
Since then, the 25-year-old has enjoyed a prolific start to life in the Super Lig, scoring four goals in as many starts and contributing two assists.
As a result, Galatasaray boss Okan Buruk is determined to sign Osimhen on a permanent deal, but finances remain a major obstacle.
Napoli are said to have agreed a £63m release clause should a club outside Serie A be interested.
Galatasaray are reportedly preparing a £42m bid to permanently sign Victor Osimhen in January.
The Turkish club are said to be hoping that Napoli will budge on their £63m release clause for the striker.
However, according to a Turkish media SozcuAlthough Galatasaray cannot meet that fee, they will still look to make a bid for Osimhen once the January window opens.
The report claims that, with the help of a sponsor, Galatasaray are prepared to offer a club record £42m in a bid to overcome interest from the likes of Chelsea and PSG.
If the deal is completed, it would smash the club’s current record transfer spend for a single player, more than double the £15m they paid Norwich this summer to sign Brazilian midfielder Gabriel Sara.
The reports come just a month after Osimhen boldly declared his transfer value and claimed there are few players in world football with the quality he possesses.
“I’m worth more than 100 million euros.” Osimhen told TMW.
If the deal is closed, Osimhen would become the club’s record signing.
‘There are few players in the world like me, who have achieved such style and success. It all has to do with my characteristics, what I do and my quality. That’s why I think I deserve it.
‘I am aware of my contribution and what I can achieve, even in my private life. Do people think differently? Some say 15 million, others 100-120-150… Everyone has their own opinion.’
