Gabby Thomas won her third gold medal at the Paris Olympics as part of Team USA’s 4×400-meter relay team.
As Team USA displayed Secretariat-like dominance in capturing a gold medal, fans online joked about how much better the Americans were than the competition.
One of those people joked that Thomas and teammate Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone are “from another planet,” among many other compliments.
The other two members of the U.S. team who won gold in the 4×400-meter relay were Shamier Little and Alexis Holmes.
McLaughlin-Levrone won her second medal with the dominant second leg relay, handing the baton to Thomas.

Thomas had a big lead that he did not relinquish when the baton was handed to him during the relay.
“McLaughlin is from another planet. She’s a monster, how can she be so good? Gabby Thomas, my God! The American women are from another dimension at these Olympics,” said one Team USA fan online.
“The US women’s quartet swept the 4x400m. That’s 2 gold medals for Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone and 3 gold medals for Gabby Thomas at #Paris2024,” another athletics fan said on X.
“GABBY THOMAS IS RUNNING ALONE,” another person said, with a photo of Secretary Thomas leading the rest of the field.
The United States won by more than four seconds over silver medalists Netherlands and bronze medalists Great Britain.
The image that lingered, however, was of Thomas and the rest of Team USA pulverizing the rest of the pack for most of the race.
