McDonald’s fans across Australia have been left furious after a shopper claimed to have spotted a “massive change” to the cheeseburgers.

The customer didn’t believe a friend who told him the fast food giant now makes the popular menu item without pickles and onions.

But when he purchased and inspected the burger himself, he was shocked to see that it was missing those two ingredients.

“The website still says they have them, I went to another store to prove them wrong but lo and behold there are no pickles or onions on a standard cheeseburger. Please explain,” the customer wrote on Facebook alongside a photo of their meal.

Hundreds more people said they had also received cheeseburgers prepared without pickles or onions.

“I’ve tried it everywhere from local airports to domestic airports in Sydney, Melbourne and Tamworth. They serve pickles but no onions. I’ve even paid for more onions and found none on several occasions,” said one.

“Yes, every time we check there is no onion and rarely any pickles. When you ask for extra onion they only give you the thick raw slices, not the chunks,” wrote another.

“If you don’t ask for pickles, they’ll give them to you,” joked a third.

“Macca’s iconic cheeseburger is a legendary combination of 100 per cent Australian beef, onions, pickles, ketchup, mustard and cheese, all on a soft burger bun,” the spokesperson said.
