A Michigan mother ‘didn’t like it’ after finding a box cutter in her child’s Happy Meal at McDonald’s, while another parent claims the same thing happened to her.
Dawn Paret shared photos on Facebook of the bright yellow cutter she says her 7-year-old daughter found inside her Happy Meal on Sunday in Warren, Michigan.
“The amount of worry and rage that went through me – I’ve never experienced any,” Paret said in his Facebook postwhich received dozens of comments.
Surprisingly, another mother from Michigan – Kayla Almashy – said W X Y Z that she, too, found a box cutter in her child’s Happy Meal three weeks ago at another location.
“My baby, like she always says, ‘Mom, will you open my toy?’ So she went and gave me the toy, and when I grabbed it, it was a box cutter,” Almashy said. ‘I was dazzled.’

McDonald’s said in a statement that it had launched an investigation into the allegations
Paret spoke to WXYZ and said she was shocked and angry that one of her children could have been harmed if the cutter ended up in the wrong hands.
“Anything could have happened, and that’s the scary thing,” Paret said.
“She opened the box looking for the toy and it put the 2 year old in it. She turned around, looked at it, held it out and said, “Daddy, what is this?”
In her Facebook post – in which she attached photos of the box cutters – Paret said she was grateful it was her seven-year-old instead of her two-year-old.
The mum’s post received dozens of comments from other disgusted parents who urged her to call the company and contact a lawyer.
‘Call the company. Save them. See what they say AND call a lawyer. Immediately,” wrote one person under Paret’s status.
“I’m so glad nothing happened to your daughters,” another added. ‘How scary!’
The mother said she had contacted the police and was investigating.
However, Paret is still desperately searching for answers.
“McDonald’s, I need an answer as to WHY and HOW a cutter ended up at the bottom of our daughter’s happy meal,” Paret wrote.
“I understand that accidents happen. It’s just. …I need to know exactly how it happened,” the horrified mother said.

After hearing Paret’s story, Almashy said she felt the need to come forward.
She collected food from a McDonald’s in Brighton – about 40 minutes from the restaurant Paret ordered three weeks ago.
The mother said she immediately called the restaurant looking for answers, but received almost no real answers.
“I just wanted some sort of explanation. But there was nothing he could give me, other than he said, ‘Do you want a free apple pie or cookie?’ Almashy said.
According to the two women, restaurant owners said they had a box inside their stores that served as a “catch-all” for random items in the kitchen.
“They just said they had a tote box which is a Happy Meal box, and someone must have accidentally grabbed it,” Paret said.
The mums are now urging other parents to exercise extreme caution and check their children’s Happy Meals in the future.
“That’s why I brought it up on Facebook, not to criticize McDonald’s, but it was to get other parents to be more aware of checking their kids’ meals because I didn’t,” he said. Almashy said.
“The safety of customers and employees is our top priority, and we take these claims seriously,” reads a statement from McDonald’s in part.
