An angry airline passenger has hit out at “entitled” travellers in a furious Reddit rant, criticising travellers for their rude behaviour towards staff.

In an attempt to stem people’s anger, the irate traveller has spoken out about the lack of respect he sees directed towards airline customer service agents and airport staff.

in a mail In an article titled simply “passengers entitled to it,” the Delta Air Lines customer wrote: “While I understand that delays are very frustrating… or you experienced an inconvenience while flying.

‘I completely understand that you need help or that you feel that Delta owes you something like compensation or a refund.

‘What I don’t understand is why be rude to customer service or airport agents when asking for help. Why be mean to the person trying to help you? Does it give you a sense of joy and pride to be mean?’

The Redditor stressed that “it won’t cost anything to be a little nice” and that it’s important to understand “that it’s not their fault either.”

They also pointed out that “harsh words and attitudes” could affect someone’s mental health and even push them to quit their job.

To round out his speech, the Redditor applauded those who “continue to be kind despite the inconvenience.”

They wrote: ‘You are unique! This world needs you more than those people who are entitled to everything.

‘Also, please be kind to those working behind the scenes, such as customer service via phone and messaging – we are all human and do our best to help each other.’

Ending with a call to action, they concluded: ‘Always remember not to cause misery to others, people. That’s all. Thank you! I hope you all enjoy your flights and be kind.

‘It’s 2024 and people are still crazy! If you’re one of those crazy people, you might want to update your attitude or personality.’

One commentator also recounted a recent incident where he witnessed mistreatment by airport staff.

They revealed: ‘I saw some of the rudest people I have ever experienced this weekend when we were stuck in Paris Charles de Gaulle after our flight from Barcelona was delayed by almost two hours.

“The patience I received from customer service employees was not deserved at all and their behavior made being around them really uncomfortable for me.”

Another commenter mused: ‘I will never understand people who have a problem they can’t solve on their own and are rude to the only person capable of solving their problem.

Morality aside, it is totally counterproductive.

One Reddit user agreed that rudeness is ineffective, writing: “Exactly. I’m always nice to customer-facing employees because I worked in that type of position for years (and I believe you should always treat others how you would like to be treated).

‘I can’t tell you how many times simply being kind resulted in me getting improvements or extra help with something.

‘I ended up with a free upgrade to D1 on an international flight during Snowmageddon a couple of years ago, and the only reason I think it happened was because I was nice and understanding to a person who had literally hundreds of people who were horrible to her (I didn’t ask for an upgrade, it was a surprise to me).’
