Furious Coldplay fans have criticized the band for forcing audiences to watch a Welcome to Country ceremony before their sold-out concert.
Furious music lovers have taken to social media to accuse the band of “politicizing” their concerts by hosting the ceremony before performing.
At the start of their Melbourne concert at Marvel Stadium last week, Aboriginal elders took to the stage to pay their respects to the traditional owners of the lands where the show took place.
‘So now they’re bringing politics to concerts!’ one fan criticized on Facebook.
A second person added: “This is beyond a joke.”
‘Seriously, when is this going to end?’ someone else intervened.
“Welcome to country is the biggest turn off,” another person wrote.
A welcome to country is delivered by the traditional owners or custodians of the land on which an event is taking place.

It is usually performed by a local Aboriginal elder to acknowledge and consent to events occurring on traditional lands.
Coldplay’s Chris Martin landed in Sydney on Monday, alongside his father Anthony, as the band continues their Australian tour.
The lead singer, 47, appeared unharmed as he emerged from the private jet after falling through a trap door on stage during his final show in Melbourne.
Martin was reading audience signs and walking backwards during a break in the show when he fell down a hole in front of the shocked crowd.
In footage shared on social media, concertgoers were heard gasping as Martin walked out of sight.

The Yellow singer is then heard reassuring fans: “That’s not planned,” before adding: “Thanks for catching me” to a production worker below the stage.
After the incident, Martin continued with the show.
Meanwhile, the band’s first show in Melbourne was derailed on Wednesday night after a band member suffered a health emergency.
For the first time in their career, Martin announced that the band would play their first show at Melbourne’s Marvel Stadium without bassist Guy Berryman after he suffered an illness.
During the concert, Martin said: “We’ll have a slightly different show and we’ll do our best to make it amazing because we’re in Melbourne with all you beautiful people.”
‘If you see some errors and problems, it’s because we don’t have our bassist. “You won’t see Guy tonight because he’s vomiting,” the singer added.
On Instagram after Wednesday night’s show, the band thanked their fans for their understanding.
‘Tonight was the first time in our band’s history that we played a show without all four members on stage. Guy got sick unexpectedly right before the show. Thank you for helping us get through this.’

Coldplay continues their tour by performing in Sydney at Accor Stadium on Wednesday and Thursday nights.
The band is currently in Australia on their Spheres World Tour, which will see the band perform four nights at Melbourne’s Marvel Stadium and Sydney Olympic Park.
But it’s been a long time between gigs on Australia’s east coast for the Yellow hitmakers, who last visited Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney for their 2016 A Head Full Of Dreams tour.
The band returned Down Under last year but were limited to two shows on the west coast at Perth’s Optus Stadium.
Chris was seen chatting with his Australian fans when he arrived in Sydney.
Coldplay will also perform at Accor on Thursday, Saturday and Sunday nights.
