One person has died in a horrific house fire in Adelaide’s western suburbs despite the efforts of heroic neighbors and fire crews who battled the blaze.
Police and firefighters were called to Shannon Street in Fulham Gardens at around 8am on Saturday after receiving reports of smoke and flames coming from the house.
The single-story house was completely destroyed in the inferno.
Rocco Salerno, 73, who lives across the street with his wife Jane, said he called triple zero after seeing flames coming out of his front window.
“I was surprised by something I hadn’t seen before,” he said. The advertiser.
‘There have been problems in that house before, so I thought something was wrong. We didn’t know anyone had died there.
Salerno, who has lived on the street for more than 30 years, said they did not know the people who lived in the house that burned.
He recalled a separate incident that occurred at the property several years ago, when another person “in their 30s or 40s” had died.

“I think they had the heating on in the room and then something happened to her,” he said.
Another local said she went to pilates at around 7am and when she returned her husband had given her baby and dog to her neighbour.
She said her husband and another man tried to break the windows to see if anyone was inside the house, but they could not find anyone.
“The whole house was on fire,” he said.
South African police and detectives remained at the scene until 3.30pm on Saturday.
Major crimes detectives have launched an investigation.
