Vice President Kamala Harris is now projected to win the presidential election in November for the first time since becoming the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee.
According to online betting company PredictIt, Harris is projected to be the favorite to win this fall against former President Donald Trump.
Harris’s shares after the victory hit 54 cents on Thursday, while Trump’s after the victory were trading at 50 cents.
The company works by asking users to buy shares priced from 1 cent to 99 cents. The more likely an event is, the more expensive they are, indicating that people still expect the presidential race to be very close.
Harris took the lead on the betting platform for the first time on Wednesday before going back and forth for a while.

The shift in the betting market comes after a series of recent polls showed Harris closing the gap with Trump and even overtaking him in several battleground states since Biden dropped out of the race last month.
The latest Bloomberg News/Morning Consult poll showed Harris ahead in four key states: Arizona, Michigan, Nevada and Wisconsin, and tied in Georgia. Her lead in Michigan was a whopping 11 points.
Trump was leading in North Carolina and Pennsylvania, according to the poll.
Overall, the average of polls in the Harris-Trump head-to-head show Trump ahead by just over one percentage point.
Prediction market Polymarket has shown Trump’s lead on who will win the presidential election falling and Harris rising, but the former president maintains his lead of 54 percent to 44 percent.
People have also been weighing in on PredictIt on who they think will be Harris’ running mate, as she is expected to announce her vice presidential pick any day now before the two appear together for their first campaign rally in Philadelphia on Tuesday.
Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro has a wide lead in the betting market as his running mate with 57 cents. Arizona Sen. Mark Kelly is in second place with 19 cents, followed by Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear with 18 cents.
