Horrible video released this week by an animal rights group shows the terrifying moment when a dog of a terrier-bull mix ran into a parking lot of the church and jumped in the direction of a five-year-old girl walking with two adults.
The incident occurred on October 20 near a church in Colorado Springs.
Security video takes a child and the two adults on their way to a car in the church parking lot.
Suddenly, a few tens of feet away, a dog is seen galloping down the street to the parking lot.

The dog jumps to the little girl and bites her left arm and refuses to let go
The adults in the neighborhood immediately rushed to get the little girl’s dog
The two adults manage to pry the dog away from the five-year-old girl, who sustains moderate injuries to her left arm
The animal then runs to the family and jumps at the girl, bit her in the left arm and refuses to let go.
The girl’s startled family members then force the dog away from the girl after a fight of about 20 seconds.
Fortunately, the girl suffered from moderate puncture wounds on the left biceps and forearm – injuries that required medical treatment.
The Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region has posted a video of the attack on its Facebook account.
The dog’s owner was accused of unlawful ownership of a dangerous animal
The Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region said the owner chose to have the dog euthanized
The organization said the dog’s owner was arrested and charged with illegal ownership of a dangerous animal.
In such cases, the owner of the dog can choose to have the animal embarked at a recognized agency or to put the dog down.
In this case the owner has chosen to have the dog euthanized.
The Humane Society has posted the video to raise awareness of a Bite Blotter, an online log of incidents in which pets become violent towards other animals and people.
The names of the young girl and the dog owner have not been released by the authorities in this case.
