The girlfriend of a man who died next to his best mate after a luxury car that she borrowed at high speed from a highway, has shared a heart-tribute to her partner on Facebook.
Carla Rainone placed a photo of her friend Jason Gilham, 27, the day after his death, accompanied by the caption: "Please come back to me, I love you."
Gilham drowned beside his mate when the Mercedes-car knocked the pair down on Saturday night around 8.45 pm in Melbourne's Princes Highway in Altona North.
Daily Mail Australia understands that the driver was Bradley Dobney, also at the age of 27, as identified by 7 News Melbourne.

The Mercedes car, loaned to Dobney by his boss, traveled towards Geelong when it suddenly turned away from the road.
It is clear that the car then crashed through a barrier, descended from a hill and turned around before it plunged into the swamp below.
The Herald Sun reported that the dead men were deliriously trying to find their way out, only to see that the sunroof was stuck.
Then they tried to make their way out of the hatch of the car, but they could not open them at their last moments.
A report is prepared for the coroner.
