New details emerge about teacher Hayley Cassell, 32, accused of ‘grooming a teenage girl for sex and abusing her at a popular Gold Coast shopping centre’.
A teacher is accused of indecently abusing a child for more than a year at several locations on the Gold Coast, including a popular shopping center and hotel.
Hayley Maree Cassell, of Hope Island, was charged in June with 74 offenses of indecent treatment of a child.
Police also charged her with a string of other offenses including manipulation and attempting to pervert the course of justice.
The charges were laid after a woman came forward to police and complained about Ms Cassell’s alleged indecent treatment of her, when the accuser was a teenager.

Court documents say the 32-year-old faces 74 charges of indecent treatment of a child under 16.
She is also charged with one count of grooming, making “observations or recordings in breach of privacy” and attempting to pervert the course of justice.
Court documents allege the offenses took place at various locations on the Gold Coast, including at the Australia Fair in Southport, at a hotel and at several home addresses.
Court documents indicated the grooming charges allegedly occurred between January 27, 2015 and July 28, 2016.
They said she allegedly “engaged in conduct” towards a person under the age of 16 “with the intent to facilitate the obtaining… of engaging in a sexual act”.
Another indecent treatment offense allegedly took place in Brisbane, according to court documents.
Police allege in court documents the offenses took place at various locations on the Gold Coast, including at the Australia Fair in Southport.
Her charge of attempting to pervert the course of justice involves making a false statement under oath during court proceedings on July 10, 2017.
Ms Cassell, who remains on bail, was not required to appear at Southport Magistrates’ Court when her case was briefly mentioned on Thursday.
Magistrate Kerry Magee ordered a brief of evidence to be disclosed to Ms Cassell’s lawyer, Thomas McKee, by November 2.
The subject will be raised again on November 11.
