The New York Giants are adding quarterback Drew Lock two years after the backup signal-caller was included in Denver’s infamous trade for Russell Wilson.

A Giants source has confirmed the deal to DailyMail.com. The one-year, five million dollar contract was First reported by ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Lock has spent the last two seasons behind Geno Smith in Seattle, where he appeared in four games in 2023 while going 1-1 as a starter. In his career, Lock is 9-14 as a starter after being the Broncos’ top quarterback for parts of the 2019, 2020 and 2021 seasons.

But perhaps his biggest impact on the NFL came in the Broncos’ ill-fated trade for Wilson, who was released in Denver this offseason after signing a $245 million extension in September 2022. The Broncos will now pay the remaining $38 million of the Wilson’s salary. after he agreed to join the Pittsburgh Steelers on a one-year deal earlier this week.

As bad as Wilson’s contract was for Denver, the trade itself may have been worse. Not only did the Broncos trade Lock, who had shown flashes of promise, but Denver also gave up two firsts, two seconds and a fifth-round pick to Seattle in exchange for Wilson, a former Super Bowl winner.
