Freddie Freeman’s three-year-old son Max is “miraculously” home after eight days in hospital battling a rare neurological condition.
The LA Dodgers star and his wife Chelsea revealed earlier this week that Max had suddenly suffered total body paralysis.
The three-year-old boy was diagnosed with “a severe case” of Guillain-Barré syndrome, a disease in which the immune system mistakenly attacks the nervous system.
The condition can cause weakness and paralysis and can also prevent a person from being able to breathe on their own. There are fewer than 20,000 cases in the United States each year.
On Sunday, the Freemans said Max still has “a long road ahead of him to regain his strength and learn to walk again.”

The Los Angeles Dodgers star was photographed taking his son out of the hospital on Sunday.
But on Sunday, after the “hardest and scariest days of their lives,” the family revealed that Max is now out of the hospital thanks to a “miracle from God.”
‘After 8 long days in the Pediatric ICU, we are officially HOME!’ Chelsea wrote on Instagram.
‘Max still has a long road ahead of him to regain his strength and learn to walk again. But we are so grateful to have our family together again.
“Thank God for this miracle. Thank you also to our amazing team of angel doctors and nurses for taking such good care of our little boy.”
Along with the update on Max’s condition, Chelsea Freeman posted a photo of her husband taking their son out of the hospital and a touching video of Max reuniting with his two brothers, Charlie and Brandon.
On Saturday, she revealed that the ‘Dodgers family’ had sent Max a card with ‘prayers and well wishes,’ which she read to her son.
Three-year-old Max was rushed to hospital and diagnosed with Guillain-Barré syndrome.
