A freak workplace accident left a tradesman stranded on a roof with an angle grinder protruding from his leg.

Emergency services were called to a property on a tree-lined residential street in Botany, in Sydney’s south, at 11.30am on Thursday.

They discovered a man had suffered a deep laceration to his leg with an angle grinder, with the power tool lodged inside.

Police officers helped the NSW Ambulance team get the man down from the roof where he had been working.

“It appeared he had suffered significant blood loss due to a deep cut on his leg,” one witness said.

“The angle grinder was still sticking out of his leg when they took him down.”

Daily Mail Australia has contacted New South Wales Police and New South Wales Ambulance for comment.
