Frank Ocean fans were left devastated after discovering that he does not appear on Tyler, The Creator’s new album Chromakopia, having spent the lead-up to its release convincing himself that he would make a surprise appearance.
Rapper Tyler, 33, released his eighth studio album on Monday, just 12 days after officially announcing the project.
It was during the marketing launch that fans went wild theorizing that Thinkin Bout You singer Frank, 37, would make a sneaky guest appearance, thanks to some red herrings.
The internet went into a frenzy after they realized that Chromakopia would be released on Frank’s 37th birthday.
They also noted that Tyler drove a white Ferrari in the music video for the song Noid, which was released as a single on October 21.
It’s official, Frank Ocean does not appear on Tyler, The Creator’s eighth album
Tyler released Chromakopia on Monday, just 12 days after officially announcing the project.
Fans immediately believed the car was a nod to Frank’s song White Ferrari, which appeared on his 2016 album, Blonde, and which served as a hint that a collaboration was on the way.
Additionally, a preview of Tyler’s new song, St Chroma, sent the Internet into a tailspin because he had collaborated with Frank due to the cryptic vocals.
It has since been revealed that Daniel Caesar lent his vocals to the song.
Frank, however, is nowhere to be found in Chromakopia.
Instead, the 14-song tracklist features guest features from GloRilla, Daniel Caesar, Teezo Touchdown, and Childish Gambino, to name just a few.
Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, angry fans vented their frustrations.
One wrote: “I was hoping for a surprise Frank Ocean feature on #Chromakopia for his 37th birthday, guess it wasn’t meant to be.”
Another said: ‘Tyler the Creator’s new album is absolutely amazing. BUT WHERE IS FRANK OCEAN?
Fans were left heartbroken after becoming convinced that Frank would appear.
Tyler collaborated with several artists for the album, including Daniel Caesar and Thundercat.
A third continued: “Frank Ocean not being on Tyler’s album was my biggest heartbreak of the month.”
Others, however, criticized fans for being “delusional” about the fantasy collaboration.
“I wish people would stop expecting Frank Ocean to be in all of Tyler’s projects. Haha, everyone ends up being disappointed,” one said.
“There’s no Frank Ocean feature on Chromakopia, y’all were just raving,” another added.
Frank and Tyler’s friendship goes back a long way, with the singer joining rapper Odd Future’s group in 2009.
Fans of Frank’s music have been patiently waiting for him to release a new album for almost a decade.
In 2011, she appeared on Tyler’s song She, which appeared on his album, Goblin.
Frank’s fans have been patiently waiting for the Grammy-winning artist to release new music to the world.
Her debut album, Channel Orange, was released in 2012 and was an instant hit, as was her second album, Blonde, in 2016.
Last year, Frank canceled his second set at Coachella after his initial performance the week before was plagued by technical problems.
The concert had marked the end of a six-year hiatus.
While there’s no official word yet on Frank’s new music, Tyler’s fans will be heading out on a seven-month world tour to celebrate Chromakopia.
The tour, which kicks off in Minnesota on February 2, will see him perform across North America before heading to the UK and Europe on April 25.
