Kante, who played 22 games for the Blues this season, was hit by a series of injuries going back to last season’s Europa League final, with his most recent battle in the 3-0 win over Watford earlier this month.

Lampard is also without asterisk Billy Gilmour, who could remain on the sidelines for four months after his knee surgery, but confirmed that Andreas Christensen is back in the squad.
“Kante is not fit, so it ends there,” said Lampard. “Christensen is back in the team and the rest we are where we were.
“I don’t want to give away my starting line-up, but we have a group that is participating. I also have to think about the freshness of the team.
“As much as we would like a permanent team, certain partnerships, for the reasons we do that has not always been easy. We’ll see tomorrow. ‘
