- Tyson Fury’s unification battle against Anthony Joshua is nearing completion
- Fury is undefeated in his professional career, while Joshua has only one loss to his name
- Former world champion Frank believes Fury is the favorite given his trade in the ring
- He added that AJ “still has a lot to learn,” even though he is only a year younger than Fury
Frank Bruno has backed Tyson Fury to defeat Anthony Joshua in their highly anticipated battle for the undisputed world heavyweight crown this summer.
According to Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn, a fight between the two British fighters has almost been agreed, following a financial agreement on two fights signed between the two last year.
Fury is undefeated, while Joshua’s lone loss fell to Andy Ruiz Jr in 2019, and ex-heavyweight world champion believes the Gypsy King has the advantage and is a much better fighter than people think.

Ex-world champion Bruno praised Fury’s qualities while saying Joshua still ‘has a lot to learn’
“As for Fury versus Joshua, Fury comes first to me,” said Bruno The mirror
‘He’s a very dangerous guy because he doesn’t give a monkey standing in front of him. He is a much better fighter than many people think.
“He can move, he can hit and he knows how to solve his opponents with all kinds of things.”
Meanwhile, Bruno says that Joshua – who is a year younger than Fury at age 31 – still has ‘a lot to learn’.
The 59-year-old also struggled to understand how Joshua lost to Ruiz in June 2019, on a nightmare of an American bow to AJ when he was knocked down four times before the referee stopped the bout on the seventh round.
Joshua’s lone defeat came in a big shock in New York in June 2019 against Andy Ruiz Jr
“Anthony Joshua is also very hungry, but he still has a lot to learn,” Bruno added. “He needs a little more discipline and I don’t know how he lost to that guy Andy Ruiz Junior.
“I have nothing against Joshua, but Fury is a very underrated man and he is a force to be reckoned with.”
However, plans for a July date are going ahead and as fan admission is crucial, Wembley Stadium has not yet been ruled out, with the UK roadmap planning to end social restrictions on June 21.
Hearn gave an update this weekend and told Sky Sports: ‘We are very close. (On Sunday) both boys are presented with options for a fight in the summer. Joshua doesn’t talk much about fights, but he talks when it’s close. You feel the excitement increase.
‘We are in a great place with various offers on the table. I have quiet confidence in it. It was nice to see Fury post enthusiastically because he feels we are close.

‘The teams come together. I’ll try to see Bob Arum on Tuesday. We are almost there. We’ve worked really hard and we don’t want to give in.
‘We are in a good place, nice and close. I can’t do more than I do. People know we are on the brink.
Both guys are desperate to get moving. Joshua wants a date for the start of his camp. This is the 2021 sporting event. A happy site will get some good news next week and the whole world will stop to watch this fight. ‘
