Every month, Premium Bond holders eagerly wait to find out if they have won a big prize in the NS&I prize draw.
With more than 24 million customers, premium bonds are the country’s favorite savings product.
And although they don’t offer a guaranteed return, many savers enjoy the thrill of checking whether they’ve won a huge sum each month, all without losing their original stake, even those with smaller holdings.
In the June draw, four lucky Premium Bond holders won some of the biggest Premium Bond prizes with holdings of less than £1,000.
Juicy returns: four lucky premium bondholders have pocketed the best £100,000 and £50,000 with holdings of less than £1,000
The three biggest prizes up for grabs in the Premium Bond draw are the legendary £1 million jackpots, of which there are only two: the £100,000 prizes and the £50,000 prizes.
In the last draw, there were 87 prizes of £100,000 up for grabs and 174 of £50,000.
A Premium Bond saver has pocketed a £100,000 prize with a holding of just £300.
The lucky winner, from West Yorkshire, purchased his winning bond just seven months ago, in November 2023.
Meanwhile, another Berkshire-based premium bondholder took a £100,000 prize from a bond worth £700 he bought in August 1998, almost 26 years ago.
A premium bond holder from Bridgend and Neath Port Talbot has managed to turn £100 into £50,000 after winning one of today’s £50,000 prizes. That’s a return of 49,900 percent.
They bought their winning bond in February 2006.
Another Preston-based Premium Bond holder won a £50,000 prize with a stake of £650. They invested their money in premium bonds in December 2006.
Both £1 million jackpots were won by Premium Bond holders with the maximum investment of £50,000 this month.
The £1 million first prize winner, from Southampton, bought his winning voucher in February 2019. While the £1 million second prize winner bought his in January 2017.
There were 87 prizes of £100,000 and 174 prizes of £50,000 in this month’s Premium Bond prize draw.
A total of 5.9 million prizes worth £455 million will be paid out in the June 2024 draw. There were 124.1 billion bond numbers eligible for the drawing.
