Four people, including two teenagers, have been arrested after a 16-year-old boy was stabbed to death in Northampton yesterday afternoon.

Police and ambulance crews rushed to Harborough Road, near the junction with The Cock Hotel, at around 3:35pm on Wednesday.

Despite the efforts of the paramedics, the boy died soon after.

Four men aged 49, 21, 16 and 14 have been arrested and remain in police custody.

A police cordon on Harborough Road, between the junction with The Cock Hotel and Waitrose, is expected to remain in place overnight.

Northamptonshire Police have launched a murder investigation.

Detective Inspector Simon Barnes said: “This is an exceptionally sad and tragic incident in which a boy with his whole life ahead of him

“The arrests were made immediately tonight and investigations continue to move at a rapid pace, however I still ask witnesses or anyone with information that has not yet come forward to do so.”
