The foster mother of a lonely dog, Bob, who didn’t want anyone at an adoption event in New York City, said “hundreds” are filing for adoption after a video of him went viral.
Julie Zeilinger took to social media to express her joy at hearing how many people are interested in adopting Bob Parr — the name the shelter gave him — after a video of him went viral on TikTok.
“It’s so nice that so many people care about Bob,” she wrote on her Instagram story. “Literally hundreds are reaching out to adopt him because of this video…”
Julie, who already has a permanent dog Baloo, also encourages others to look at other puppies available through the Brooklyn Animal Rescue.
“He’s a dog that is lovingly cared for, while millions need homes.”
Bob went viral this weekend as thousands of users sympathized with the pup being ignored by the crowd.
The video, posted by Andrea Caceres, an illustrator who goes by PetArtByAndrea on TikTok, captioned the post with a sad face emoji and a message to his future family: “He’s the sweetest puppy.”

In the TikTok, the filmmaker shows off the busy event in Central Park, organized by Badass Animal Shelter Brooklynand writes, “POV: You’re at an adoption event and all adoptable dogs are getting attention, except… Bob.”
DailyMail.com spoke to Bob’s foster mother, Julie Zeilinger, on Monday, who said some people have come to him to contact him but it was difficult because he is very shy. Julie said Bob has been with them for about four months now and that “it took him a while to get used to us.”
She thinks the reason he wasn’t so popular among those in attendance was because he was scared because it was his first time at an event like that.
“He was very overwhelmed, and I think people sensed that and wanted to give him space,” Julie said, but added that whoever adopts him will be in for a treat.
“He’s an incredibly sweet dog who just wants to love and be loved,” she said.
The dog was dropped off along with some of its puppies during a shelter outing, representatives said:
Bob is named after Pixar character Bob Parr from ‘The Incredibles’ because of his ‘super strength’
The puppy is described as timid and shelter representatives say it can take a while to get used to a person
As Bob’s name appears on the screen, the camera pans to show off the three-year-old 10-pound dog sitting patiently waiting for someone to play with him.
Bob, a terrier according to him PetFinder page, looks around the crowd at dozens of people, waiting for someone to approach him.
As he sits on the grass, the woman accompanying Bob calmly strokes him while she, too, looks around to see if anyone is coming.
It was also Bob’s first foray into an adoption event after heartworm treatment.
The puppy is also ‘very timid’ and needs a loving owner ‘with a lot of patience’.
Caceres says Bob would be an ideal dog for a home or family living in a quieter area.
Since the video was posted on Sunday, it has racked up 3.1 million views and hundreds of thousands of comments.
More than 400,000 people have liked the TikTok video and the post has received nearly 3,000 comments.
‘COME ON PEOPLE!! Bob is clearly dog material of the highest level!!’ said one commenter.
‘To look. I don’t cry much. But even a vaguely sad story about a dog and I can’t hold back my tears. I’m going to hyperventilate,” said another.
‘Awww my poor heart can’t take it. The way he looks around like ‘what about me’ wrote another commenter.
Bob became so popular with his first viral TikTok that Caceres posted a follow-up video with more information about the dog.
Bob is just three years old and is looking for his ‘forever home’ in a quiet street
Bob’s TikToks have led to a major spike in requests for the pup, Bob’s foster mom said
“I can’t sleep until I hear he’s adopted,” one wrote.
“If he doesn’t get adopted, I’ll lose my absolute mind. We love Bob,” another wrote.
Bob’s bio on PetFinder.com says he was named after the Pixar character from ‘The Incredibles’ for his ‘super power’.
“Unfortunately, he was dropped off at the shelter, along with his puppies, on one of our rescue trips,” the page says.
“But given his superpower, we know he will be able to put the past behind him and become the perfect companion he was always destined to be,” his bio continues.
His foster mom also said she thinks it may take a while for him to feel comfortable with whoever adopts him, “but once he knows he can trust you and that you’re there to protect him, he’s all set.” you.’
Julie also posted a video to TikTok on Monday, sharing even more details about the 10-pound pup.
“He often struggles to stay awake and has the cutest little bum pop when he’s feeling frisky,” Julie wrote in the caption of the video, which features the “butt pop.”
She said he came to the shelter from Georgia in June and has been with her and her family ever since.
Bob has been neutered and ready to be brought home, officials say.
She said he was in treatment most of the time he was at their home and that Sunday’s outing was his first adoption event.
The foster mom also said Bob is used to spending “a lot of time” on the couch due to the time he couldn’t get his heart rate up during worm treatment.
The foster mom also said the dog may have had a windfall that went viral on TikTok.
“He has a lot of applications now thanks to @PetArtByAndrea, but you can apply here!” Julie wrote in her TikTok caption.
