Valtteri Bottas has paid tribute to his second home, Australia, in a “legendary” advert that has gone viral.

The former Mercedes driver rebranded himself as a budding Australian last year after growing a mullet and sharing his love of Victoria Bitter beer during his visit to Melbourne last year.

His transition to a makeshift Australian was inspired in part by his relationship with Australian professional cyclist Tiffany Cromwell, his girlfriend of four years.

And Bottas took it a step further this year by displaying his acting skills in an Uber commercial.

In the advert, the Finn presents his custom-made Australian car, specially designed for an Australian road trip.

The striking blue car has everything a typical Australian needs, including a meat pie warmer, a pair of budgie smugglers and a flip-flip stand.

He even generously stated that he would allow his fans to rent the car for free, as he is “already very rich.”

Unsurprisingly, Bottas was praised for the hilarious ad, with fellow F1 driver Pierre Gasly calling him a “legend” on Twitter.

Another fan, commenting on Reddit, asked: “Why haven’t we adopted him yet?”

“This is hilarious,” said another. “Is he the best F1 driver actor?”

“Bottas continues to win as usual,” said a third fan.

Elsewhere, Max Verstappen revealed why he hates taking part in Netflix series Drive to Survive.

“You don’t see me much in Drive to Survive, which is why I don’t like doing it. You probably don’t understand my good side because it’s just an interview, I’m just sitting in a dark room and I hate it.

“And there are always questions about F1-related topics that I don’t like to talk about.”

“They put a mic in front of you and you have to talk about the season…just have a casual interaction, have fun.”

“I play padel with Daniel, which is a lot of fun. Plus, some things are just private, right? People don’t need to know what we do and what we say.
