Formosa Group Employees Petition Parent Company to Keep CEO Bob Rosenthal After His Resignation (Exclusive)

Date:

After what was described as the emotional last day of Formosa Group CEO Bob Rosenthal, with his team, is developing more at the leading audio post-production company.

Rosenthal’s last official day at Formosa Group was Friday. A day earlier, a so-called “Formosa Group Collective” – a name used for employees of “all divisions, national and international”, including the award-winning audio talent – sent a petition to the top of parent company Streamland Media, calling for the urging the company to keep the company under Rosenthal’s “unfettered direction”, The Hollywood Reporter has learned. THR has obtained a copy of the petition (in its entirety below).

If THR understands, employees received a response from the company, but Streamland declined a request for comment.

A month ago, THR brought the story of Rosenthal’s resignation on March 31, a very unexpected move that left many in the sound community struggling to understand what had happened. The well-known industry veteran has been with Formosa Group, which now operates under its parent company Streamland Media, since founding the company in 2013.

“Bob Rosenthal is the heart and soul of Formosa Group. Under his leadership, the Formosa Group has grown from a boutique sound house into the largest independent sound post production company in the world, and one of the most prominent and successful brands in post sound,” reads the collective’s petition created to show our support for Bob Rosenthal and the desire for our organization to remain under his unfettered leadership.”

Formosa is home to many of the world’s leading sound editors, designers, and re-recording mixers, including Oscars, BAFTAs, Emmys, MPSE Golden Reel Awards, and Cinema Audio Society trophies. Among them are Ron Bartlett (Dune), Anna Behlmer (Mulan) and Mark Stoeckinger (John Wick: Chapter 4). The company also has divisions in broadcasting, music, interactive media and commercials.

Below is the full text of the petition.

To all concerned:

This petition is not led by any individual, but rather by The Formosa Group Collective, which includes representatives from all divisions, both national and international.

During the Streamland town hall on April 13, it was stated that Streamland Media is nothing without its people. We invite you to show us that you believe these words to be true.

Bob Rosenthal is the heart and soul of Formosa Group. Under his leadership, Formosa Group has grown from a boutique sound house to the largest independent post-production company in the world and one of the most prominent and successful post-sound brands.

The Formosa Group Collective was created to show our support for Bob Rosenthal and the desire for our organization to remain under his unfettered leadership, so that he can continue to successfully navigate our future, as he has for the past decade.

He is the leader we trust to guide our company through the times ahead.

Honestly,
THE COLLECTIVE OF THE FORMOSA GROUP
