Van der Vaart will not be thrown in at the deep end because the event consists largely of little known Scandinavian players.
In January, the 36-year-old played alongside Michael van Gerwen at the Promi-Darts World Championship in Germany.
The Dutch couple reached the final of the celebrity pro-am event, where they were defeated against Max Hopp and actor Jimi Blue Ochsenknecht.
The Dutch star withdrew from football last year and ended a career in which he won two Eredivisie titles with Ajax.
After starting his career at Ajax, Van der Vaart changed the colors of Hamburg, Real Madrid, Tottenham, Real Betis, FC Midtjylland and Esbjerg fB.
