Former Prime Minister Kevin Rudd has returned as the self-proclaimed “handball king” as he battles high school children in the playground.
Rudd went to Christian Brothers Lewisham’s court in the interior of Sydney during a visit to the National Apology Week school on Monday.
The former Labor leader said the competition was “tough,” but he was up for the challenge.
“It’s the return of Handball King today at Christian Brothers,” he wrote on social media.

“I survived some nasty dog shots to triumph anyway.”
Video footage showed that Mr. Rudd seemed to stretch his arms before serving a shot for his younger opponents.
The students of Christian Brothers sat on the concrete along the field while the former prime minister brought the ball back to the students.
Mr. Rudd conquered when one of the students exaggerated his shot and bounced it outside the square.
The audience burst out in cheers and Mr. Rudd celebrated this by giving his audience high fives.
“Well done Kevin. There’s nothing like a bit of fun, “wrote a viewer.

“Ruddy is so very sympathetic. I appreciate the balance between being well-spoken and a poor father. You rock dude, “another wrote.
A third added: “If I were a politician, I would only travel around the country to challenge high school students to play handball.”
The ‘handball king’ often shares his love for schooling games on social media and competes with students while visiting schools across the country.
Last year, Mr. Rudd announced that he would be ready for handball games at the end of August 2019, after recovering from a knee operation.
‘So anyone who is looking for a handball game, I am available. Let me know via a direct message, “he said from his office at the time.
“Be very good and get ready to die.”
