A former Premier League star has named the English top-flight club he thinks Neymar should join this summer.

Brazilian star Neymar ended his time in European football last summer after joining Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal in a stunning £78million move.

The 32-year-old is regarded as one of the best footballing talents of the past decade but, unfortunately for English fans, he has never played in the Premier League.

That dream is not over, however, as now a former top-flight star has suggested that Neymar should make a shock move to England this summer.

In an interview courtesy of Bet365 Copa AmericaIn coverage, former Arsenal star Gilberto Silva said: “I would love to see Neymar in the Premier League with Arsenal, it would be interesting, that’s for sure.”

“It would bring a lot of joy to the fans and make the competition even more special. When you look at the Premier League, we want to see the best players in the world and having him around would be great.”

Silva, who made 170 appearances for the Gunners, concluded by saying: “Let’s see. It’s not impossible that he could sign for Arsenal, why not?”

Neymar, when at Barcelona in 2017, previously admitted he admired the Gunners and named them among four Premier League sides he would be open to joining.

The other three teams that Neymar named were Manchester United, Liverpool and Chelsea.

However, the move did not materialize at the time and the Brazilian winger instead opted to join French giants Paris Saint-Germain in a world-record £198million deal.

After spending four years in Spain with Barcelona, Neymar remained in Paris for six seasons, where he scored 118 goals and registered 77 assists in 173 games.

Although he has never played in the Premier League, the Brazilian recently gave one of his compatriots a chance to shine once he completes his move to England next summer.

Last week, Chelsea announced the signing of Estevao Willian from Palmeiras, although he will not move to Stamford Bridge until next year.

The 17-year-old, who will turn 18 when he arrives in England, will cost £28m, taking Chelsea’s total spend on teenage signings during the Todd Boehly era to £250m.

He has been widely regarded as a future star at both club and international level, including by former Brazil captain Neymar.

Neymar was asked in a recent interview with TNT Which player from Brazil’s current generation of young stars were you most excited about?

Neymar explained his choice: “He is a great talent that is emerging in Brazilian football today. I think he is going to be a genius.”
