Former PM Dmitry Medvedev warns that Russia may be the first to use nuclear weapons in World War III.

Date:

Former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev warned that the planet is on the brink of a global nuclear war, and Vladimir Putin is ready to be the first to press the atomic button.

Medvedev, one of Putin’s closest followers, has co-opted an audience of Russian teenagers to threaten Armageddon – blaming the West for the brinkmanship.

Russia has long said it would only use nuclear weapons in response to a nuclear attack, but has been firm in recent months that it will not hesitate to do so if necessary.

Medvedev, 57, told his young audience in Moscow that the threat of climate change is nothing to the possibility of nuclear war.

“The world is sick and on the brink of World War III,” he said.

“And although we have tried to avoid war for 30 years, it has been forced upon us.”

Medvedev is Putin’s deputy in Russia’s powerful Security Council, former Kremlin chairman and prime minister.

He told one interviewee at the Education Knowledge Marathon: “I said Russia would never use nuclear weapons—but that’s not exactly the case.”

The former president — who had his finger on the Kremlin’s nuclear button for four years between 2008 and 2012 — said: “There really are a lot of things wrong with our world…

Let’s talk about preserving humans…

It is enough to complain about the temperature rising by 1 degree per year …

“Do you really care about the climate that much?”

He added, “In my opinion, this is nothing compared to being in the center of an explosion with a temperature of 5,000 Kelvin, a vibrational wave of 350 meters per second, and a pressure of 3,000 kilograms per square metre.

With penetrating radiation, this is ionizing radiation and electromagnetic pulses.

This (threat) exists today, unfortunately …

“And it grows every day for well-known reasons…

The Western world has been very unfair to our country…

Did they hear us?

no they did not.

“They have simply mocked (us) all these years, worn us out…”

Medvedev refuses to blame Putin’s aggression in Ukraine for the crisis the planet is facing.

Instead, he says, this was a response to the West’s encroachment on Russia as NATO expanded eastward.

What can we do (in response to NATO expansion)?

We’re already doing something. Military Special Operation is our answer to NATO’s endless expansion…

Our enemies only understand the language of the use of force and do not want to hear or understand anything else.

He warned that Putin could strike first, and referred to Russia’s nuclear doctrine.

“It shows that nuclear weapons can be used if Russia is faced with an act of aggression involving other types of weapons, which threatens the very existence of the state,” he said.

“In fact, it is about using nuclear weapons to respond to such actions.”

Medvedev warned: “Our potential opponents should not underestimate this.

All this speculation about how the Russians won’t do this or vice versa – “the Russians keep scaring us with nuclear weapons” – is worthless.

Western analysts and Western leaders – military and political leaders – must simply assess our bases and our intentions.

Medvedev also mocked the United Kingdom, claiming that it would be torn as Ulster joins Ireland and Scotland to independence with a return to the European Union.

“The situation in the United Kingdom is not optimistic,” he said.

Especially when there is, quite simply, a freak show in power.

“Just look at their last three prime ministers (Boris Johnson, Liz Truss and Rishi Sunak).”

Medvedev’s comments come as Vladimir Yermakov, the head of the foreign ministry’s nonproliferation department, told the Tass news agency that Washington was raising the stakes with its behavior with the Kremlin – the latest in a series of threats from top Russian officials.

He said that the dangers of a direct military confrontation between the two nuclear powers are steadily increasing, as he hinted to the Russian state news agency that Russia might withdraw from the Intermediate and Shorter Range Nuclear Forces Treaty.

“If the United States continues to follow its current course of confrontation with Russia, with ever-increasing risks of a slide into direct armed conflict, then the fate of START (the nuclear weapons treaty) may be a foregone conclusion,” Yermakov said. .
