Former Dallas Cowboys player Dez Bryant claimed that “God did not create us to be gay” in a homophobic rant that began with an X-rated post about Olympic boxer Imane Khelif.
Khelif has been at the centre of a huge controversy after beating Angela Carini when the Italian abandoned the fight 46 seconds into the fight at the Paris Olympics. Khelif tested positive in a gender test last year and is reported to have XY male chromosomes in her DNA.
Bryant took to X to seemingly offer her take on the issue, writing without naming Khelif: ‘God made you a woman for a reason. God made you a man for a reason.
“God didn’t put you in a foreign body. Besides, men shouldn’t be able to compete in the women’s categories. That’s my opinion.”
One fan responded to Bryant by criticizing his viewpoint, given that Khelif is neither male nor transgender, saying, “Dez struggles to understand the vast diversity of God’s creativity.”

Bryant also came under fire for his comments about Algerian boxer Imane Khelif.
Bryant responded by referencing gay people, including his own mother, saying: ‘God created many beautiful things, but I know full well that He didn’t create us to be gay… I have no problem with gay people, just my beliefs.
‘My mom is gay and she is free to do whatever she wants. God did not make Adam to be with another Adam.
“God said Adam shouldn’t be alone, so he created Eve. They both have certain parts for a reason. There are men trying to get pregnant… that’s not what happens.”
His comments were unrelated to Khelif and in a separate post, Bryant added: “I did not grow up with positive influences. God put it in my heart to change my dysfunctional environment and upbringing.
‘The way I walk through the devil’s grounds with maximum strength is truly unheard of… I’m different and I’ve accepted it a long time ago!’
According to ESPN, Bryant’s mother was arrested for dealing crack cocaine when he was a child.
In 2012, Bryant was arrested for allegedly assaulting his mother.
In a 2015 interview with The Dallas Morning NewsBryant said he learned about his mother’s sexual orientation when he was in high school.
“I didn’t like it. I still don’t like it, really,” he said. “I dealt with it and I’m comfortable with it now.”
Bryant, 35, was selected in the first round of the 2010 NFL Draft by the Cowboys and played for the team from 2010 to 2017.
He later signed with the New Orleans Saints and Baltimore Ravens and was a three-time Pro Bowler.
