Former NFL quarterback Cam Newton criticized Tyreek Hill’s behavior during his recent arrest by police before a Miami Dolphins game.

Hill was pulled from his car near the team’s Hard Rock Stadium less than three hours before the start of Miami’s Week 1 game.

The Super Bowl winner was placed on the ground and handcuffed, and teammate Calais Campbell, who drove to the scene and stopped in an attempt to play peacemaker, was also handcuffed by police during the incident.

Body camera footage of the incident, released by the Miami-Dade Police Department last week, showed the traffic stop quickly escalated after Hill rolled up his car window.

Hill has since acknowledged that he could have behaved better in the initial moments of the incident, but also said he wants one of the officers involved in the incident to be fired from the police force.

Newton told Hill

Newton told Hill “you can’t do that,” referring to Hill rolling up his window in front of police.

Newton, who played 11 seasons in the NFL and was named MVP in 2015, criticized Hill’s behavior during the incident.

Speaking on an episode of his ‘4th & 1 Podcast,’ Newton reprimanded Hill for his decision to roll up his window in front of police officers.

He said, ‘Bro, right there, deliver! I’m just trying to keep you alive.

‘I don’t talk to Tyreek Hill any more than I talk to everybody else who’s going to be arrested every day.

“When you roll down the window and roll it back up, bro, don’t do that. You can’t do that.

“It puts you in danger and you have to put yourself in the officer’s shoes. He doesn’t know what the hell is in that damn car.”

Hill received two citations, including reckless driving on the way to Hard Rock Stadium and a seat belt violation.

Police body camera footage of the incident was released, in which officers told Hill to “stop crying” and “do what we tell you.”

Another clip showed an officer knocking on Hill’s driver’s side window, telling him to roll it down, before pulling the receiver out of his black McLaren 720s coupe.

Police citations stated that Hill was stopped because he was believed to be driving 60 mph.

Torres, who has been suspended six times in his 27-year career, was placed on administrative leave while the Miami-Dade Police Department opened an internal investigation into the case.

His previous suspensions ranged from five to 20 days.

In an interview with Taylor Rooks after the incident, Hill revealed how an officer was trying to get a reaction from him during the arrest.

“There was a lot of that,” Hill said. “Every time I was handcuffed behind my back, the officer would pinch my neck, like he wanted me to do something to him.”

Hill later admitted that he had only seen the video once. Meanwhile, his wife and mother have seen the video “over 100 times” and are getting angrier each time they watch it.

“Let’s not get angry, let’s learn,” Hill told his family. “Because the more angry we get, I feel like we’re going backwards. It’s all about responsibility on both sides.”
