The FBI arrested former Detroit Lions draft pick Antwione Williams this week on two felony charges, including one count of assault.
Williams’ arrest is believed to be the first arrest of supporters of former President Donald Trump in connection with the January 6 Capitol riots since he won re-election to the White House last week.
Williams played just one season on a 53-man NFL roster that the Lions waived in 2017, the year after drafting him.
Williams was identified in the huge crowd at the riot by a special agent within the FBI, linking a few photos from his social media to the outfit he wore to the U.S. Capitol on the day of the insurrection attempt.
The officer and investigators assigned “AFO-419” and the hashtag “#RiotingGolfer” for association with the Williams case because he was wearing a New Era Golf hat.
Williams was seen wearing the black hat with the New Era Golf logo in photos on Instagram, as well as in several images outside the U.S. Capitol.

Another way Williams was identified was by the color, design and placement of his key fob.
His key chain hung from the right pant leg of his belt and matched photos from his social media, as well as his uniform during the riots.
Included as part of the key fob was the Williams car key fob, which was red and designed for Chevrolet vehicles.
In August, FBI agents checked credit card information on an account believed to belong to Williams.
An affidavit revealed that a purchase was made on “Colonial Parking Lot #863” on the day of the Capitol riot. According to Colonial’s website, this lot is located at the Rosslyn Metro Center, a train station in the nearby suburb of Arlington, Virginia.
Three train lines run regularly from Rosslyn to a few blocks from the U.S. Capitol.
