Brandon Aubrey reportedly tied the NFL record with his 66-yard field goal on Saturday

Brandon Aubrey’s massive leg proved once again that it’s one of the best in the NFL on Saturday night.

In a preseason game against the Las Vegas Raiders, the Dallas Cowboys kicker kicked a 66-yard field goal that easily cleared the crossbar.

His kick from beyond midfield would have tied for the longest field goal in NFL history, a record held by Baltimore Ravens kicker Justin Tucker.

Tucker set the record in September 2021 against the Detroit Lions with a game-winning kick that bounced off the crossbar and into the net.

Aubrey’s field goal also ended a first half, but it was at the end of the second quarter, not the fourth. The former Major League Soccer player’s massive boot just missed the crossbar.

NFL NextGen Stats estimated Aubrey’s field goal would have been successful from 72 yards, which would have broken the standing record.

After Aubrey’s shot went through the goalposts, his teammates mobbed him, knowing how rare the feat was that had been accomplished before their eyes.

The Cowboys went on to defeat the Raiders 27-12 in one of each team’s three NFL regular season tune-up games.

Making a field goal 66 years ago is especially impressive when coupled with the story of Aubrey, who only started playing football in 2019.

He is a professional soccer player and the way to get maximum power with a soccer ball is different from that with an American football.

But Aubrey just tied one of the toughest records to break in the NFL. Now he just needs a chance in a game that counts.
