Jose Mourinho is desperate to return to management but former Manchester United boss insists: ‘I am hungry but I will wait for the right club’
Jose Mourinho is desperate to return to management, but insisted he will remain patient and wait for the right opportunity to present itself.
The 56-year-old has been out of work after being sacked by Manchester United back in December.
Mourinho has been heavily linked with a return to the dugout this summer with Benfica, Lyon and most recently Newcastle being touted as possible landing spots.
However, the former Chelsea and Real Madrid boss passed up the chance to take those jobs and has now reiterated his plan to wait for the perfect offer.
When asked if he was chomping at the bit to return to management, Mourinho told Sky Sports: ‘I am hungry, but I will wait for the right club, for the right project.
‘And, in the meantime, I am doing things I like to do. I prefer to work, but I like other sports and this is a good opportunity to enjoy [things other than football].’
The Portuguese boss was seen at Wimbledon earlier this week and was pictured watching the qualifying round at Silverstone on Saturday.
Mourinho, however, refused to make a comment on Frank Lampard’s managerial credentials after his former player took over at Chelsea.
Reports have also claimed that Mourinho will consider taking a national team job.
