Former Liverpool striker Fabio Carvalho was told by his father to leave Brentford in a now-deleted social media post.
Carvalho joined Brentford in the summer in a £27.5million move from Liverpool that had been of interest to a number of Premier League clubs.
The Portuguese striker has had limited playing time at Brentford to date, making just two starts in the Premier League.
Carvalho, however, had been involved in each of the Bees’ top-flight games this season until the goalless draw against Everton on Saturday.
Thomas Frank’s side were reduced to 10 men at Goodison Park but held on to earn a point against the Toffees.
Brentford shared the result on Instagram after the final whistle with the caption “A solid point along the way for the ten-man Bees.”

Carvalho’s father, Victor, expressed frustration at his son’s lack of involvement despite the result, writing: “Son, you have to leave this club.”
The post has since been deleted.
Carvalho had previously admitted that his father had played a key role in convincing him to sign for Brentford in the summer.
After signing a long-term contract with the club, Carvalho revealed that Victor had encouraged him to move to west London.
“I’ve watched Brentford a lot, especially when they played against teams in the top six: they always fought and that’s exactly what you want to see,” Carvalho said in August.
“When I was on the Liverpool bench in the away game two seasons ago (the 3-1 win), Brentford were on top of us!
But I’ve been keeping an eye on Brentford; My father watched the Benfica game (pre-season) because he is a big Benfica fan and he said: ‘Look, Brentford have a good team.’
Carvalho has made 14 appearances in total since joining Brentford in the summer, but has mostly come as a substitute.

The Portuguese striker has scored two goals for his new club, one in the Premier League against Wolves, as well as a goal in the Carabao Cup against Sheffield Wednesday.
Carvalho had played 21 times for Liverpool before moving to Brentford, and joined the Reds from Fulham in a £5million move in 2021.
During his time at Liverpool, Carvalho had a failed loan spell at RB Leipzig last season, which led to him being recalled by the club.
He then enjoyed a more productive loan spell at Hull City after joining in January, scoring nine goals in 20 appearances for the Championship side.
Brentford are currently 11th in the Premier League after picking up 17 points from their 12 games to date.
