Former Liverpool midfielder Jason McAteer claims a current player at the club told him who the next Manchester United manager will be.

“He plays for Man United and I had a conversation with him on Friday, I met him because I live just outside the area,” McAteer said on beIN Sport.
“We started talking, great guy, and I asked him (about) the end of the season and what he thought and he didn’t tell me the coach was there to stay.”
“We actually talked about different names and who we thought would be a good fit and I didn’t get any inclination from him.”
Asked how the player reacted when Thomas Tuchel was mentioned, McAteer said: “Smile(ed) but that wasn’t the name.” He then said “no” when they mentioned José Mourinho.
Richard Keys then mentioned Gareth Southgate, to which McAteer replied: “Yeah, that was the name.”
