A former lingerie shop worker has revealed the disgusting reason why you should buy your underwear online rather than going to stores in person.
Alyssa from Sydney said she often had to deodorize underwear sets and even remove stains before putting them back on the rack.
‘One of the first things I learned when I started working was that a lot of people used to try on lingerie without underwear.
“The products would stain or leave a bad smell. We had to use Glen20 on the underwear and scrub it.”
Alyssa revealed that if they successfully cleaned the products, they would go back to the floor, otherwise the purchases would be sent to broken items.
‘I was shocked when I was told I had to clean my underwear because it was literally disgusting.’
The former worker stressed that online shopping was the way forward.
‘Always order them online and if you’re desperate because it’s that day, wash them and scrub them, unless they have the sticky tape that you know hasn’t come off.’

Alyssa was surprised that the brand required employees to clean dirty clothes in the first place.
“This brand makes so much money, you just throw away the $5 underwear you charge thousands for and buy new ones,” she said.
Many were stunned by the “brutal” revelation, but others were not so surprised.
“That’s why I always wash before use, no matter what it is,” said one.
“I worked in a lingerie store and we had to bag up dirty products and put them in a box to destroy them,” said another employee.
