Sanna Marin took time off work over the weekend and enjoyed a music festival with friends in Helsinki.
The 38-year-old former Finnish prime minister, who quit politics last September to join the Tony Blair Institute for Global Change, took to Instagram to share snaps from the Flow music festival.
The mother-of-one ditched formal attire in favor of an all-black leather look, complete with a mini skirt, crop top and trendy black boots.
Sanna, who was the world’s youngest prime minister and led her country into NATO, appeared to take a particular interest in English DJ and producer Fred Again, posting a photo of his performance to her Instagram story.
In another snap, Sanna looked more like a typical thirty-something than a former world leader as she posed with a friend at the festival.
Former Finnish Prime Minister Sanna Marin (pictured) attended the Flow music festival in Helsinki over the weekend.
The mother-of-one appeared in high spirits as she posed with a friend at the three-day music festival.
She opted for a glamorous makeup look for the fun-filled occasion, completed with a bold red lipstick.
The three-day Finnish music and arts festival hosted a host of stars including Vince Staples, Halsey and Raye.
Sanna was the world’s youngest prime minister when she took office in 2019. She lost Finland’s general election to the country’s conservative party leader, Petteri Orpo, in April 2023.
Last May she announced that she was divorcing her husband Markus Räikkönen after 19 years together.
The couple, who share a five-year-old daughter, Emma Amalia Marín, were rarely seen together in public in the months leading up to their divorce.
Her recent appearance follows a visit to New York in April. The well-travelled mother of one arrived in New York just days after visiting Berlin, where she was posted about a visit to a Holocaust memorial and the German Ministry of Health.
However, her time in New York appeared to be a more social trip where she apparently enjoyed lunches and cocktails with friends.
Related to her stories, Sanna posted a photo of passersby near Radio City, which she tagged ‘NYC’.
It was English DJ and producer Fred Again who seemed to interest Sanna the most, and she uploaded a photo of his performance.
The photograph captured the essence of New York tourism, including its famous yellow taxis and towering buildings.
During her trip she also attended a “working lunch” with friends, where she enjoyed a fish salad with leafy greens and a main course of fresh bread.
The former Social Democratic leader and two friends later filmed a selfie video as they walked through New York City’s sixth-largest park, Central Park.
As Prime Minister of Finland, Marin was one of Europe’s youngest leaders and oversaw her country’s successful application to officially join NATO.
Announcing his resignation from politics, Marin told Finnish broadcaster YLE that “it was time to move on.”
She said: “I am looking forward to taking on a new role. I also believe that it can benefit the whole of Finland.
“I believe I can serve those constituents (in Finland) well and perhaps even better in my new mission.”
Sanna, who was the world’s youngest prime minister, donned a black leather miniskirt and matching crop top for the occasion.
Although many hailed her as a millennial inspiration who encouraged young people to be less apathetic towards politics, she remained a controversial figure in Finland.
Finnish voters, concerned about issues such as immigration and a growing public deficit, handed Marin a narrow defeat in April to the right-wing National Coalition and the far-right Finns party, triggering the government’s downfall.
During his tenure, he has had to endure several publicity storms, including for his outings to nightclubs during the pandemic, the organisation of private parties at his official residence and voluntarily taking a drug test (which came back negative) after a video of a party was leaked to the media.
Marin was also heavily criticised after she was seen at a nightclub in the early hours of the morning, shortly after coming into contact with her health minister, who has just tested positive for COVID-19.
She was also caught dancing provocatively with Finnish influencer Sabina Sarka in 2022, prompting another round of harsh criticism.
