Former England international Carlton Palmer returns to football next season as he accepts a position with Grantham Town in the Northern Premier League

Carlton Palmer will return to English football next season after taking the job as manager of Grantham Town.
Palmer, who won 18 English caps, has spent the past seven years working as a sports director at a private school in Shanghai, China.
He will take over part-time over the summer at Grantham in the Northern Premier League Premier Division, the seventh tier of the pyramid, but is already making plans for next season.

Palmer, 55, enjoyed a long career as a player, starting at West Bromwich Albion and including successful spells at Sheffield Wednesday and Leeds.
He ended his playing career in 2005 at Mansfield, where he was also a manager – his last job in English football.
