Former Barcelona manager Quique Setién admitted he “fell in love” with the Premier League during his trip.

Setién said: ‘Obviously. I have been out for a year and in Spain I had no sensations.

‘We follow the entire Premier League. In Spain you see one or two teams on television, in England we see them all.

‘We came here last year for seven days, but this week was a big surprise. I fell in love with the people, with the passion.

“The fans are doing the best they can and the game was not exciting.”

Setién was appointed Barcelona coach in 2020, but only lasted 25 games in charge and was sacked following the 8-2 loss to Bayern Munich in the Champions League quarter-finals.

He has been without a club since September 2023, when he was fired by Villarreal.
