Former Special Forces commander and combat personnel Paul Cale says he was attacked by a knife-wielding assailant

A hand-to-hand combat instructor and former special forces soldier posted that he was attacked by a knife-wielding assailant just after teaching a class on sword fighting techniques.

Paul Cale, CEO of self-defense company Kinetic Fighting, posted on Facebook on Saturday that he had just been attacked.

“Firstly, I am fine and uninjured. I am with the police making a report to detectives and would like to commend Queensland Police for their quick response to my emergency call,” he wrote.

‘The irony is not lost on me that today, just after delivering my workshop on knife awareness and defence in Brisbane, I was attacked by a knife-wielding assailant.

‘I can’t believe it! PS: The old friend did get kicked in the face though.’

Those commenting on the incident were quick to point out the attacker’s bad luck or simple stupidity.

‘Damn, the worst guy in Australia who dared to try something like that!’ said one.

‘Skill aside… (who) tries to mug a guy your size,’ another commented.

‘WE WANT THE IMAGES!… for training purposes only..’ said another Facebook user.

Mr Cale and Queensland Police have been contacted for comment.

On the Kinetic Fighting website it is stated that Mr Cale has been involved with the Australian Army for 30 years, and for most of that time was in the Special Forces, but now provides combat training for defence personnel.

After five tours in Afghanistan as a commando, Mr. Cale developed hand-to-hand combat courses and centers for soldiers, becoming “the Army’s subject matter expert when it came to delivering the Army Combat Program.”
