Trump International’s honorary councils in West Palm Beach, Fla., have long been worth a second look. The course is a 15 minute drive from Mar-a-Lago and there is a plaque on a wall, listing all the men who have triumphed in the club championships.
In 2019, the name of Donald Trump appeared three times: 1999, 2001, 2009. The only problem? As Rick Reilly points out in Commander in Cheat, the course wasn’t even open in 1999.
In his vast golf empire, the former president claims to have won at least 18 club championships.
The final score, according to Reilly? “Lies 16, Incompletes 2, Confirms 0. At that point, Trump’s nose grew so long he could putt with it.”
Last year, however, Trump’s name was once again engraved on those plaques in Florida.

Kai Trump is an impressive young golfer for big things, and she just turned 16

His grandfather, former US President Donald Trump, is well known for his love of sports.

The winner’s photo featured Donald, wearing a MAGA hat and smiling broadly.
Beside him and holding the trophy, however, was his granddaughter Kai Trump.
“Over the weekend I won the @trumpgolfpalmbeach Women’s Club Championship!” the teenager posted on Instagram.
For cynics, his boastfulness was accompanied by more convincing evidence. Alongside the family photo were highlights from Kai’s triumph: a drive shot high in the Florida sky, a putt sent snaking through the hole, a lakeside chip and another photo of the trophy inside the lavish clubhouse.
On his social media, there is plenty of evidence to suggest that the surname could still appear on many other plates.
Indeed, Kai is still only 16 years old but already she has already been approached to become the most accomplished golfer of the Trump dynasty.
The teenager – daughter of Donald Jr and his ex-wife Vanessa – is 5ft 8in and claims to be part of Callaway Next, “the next generation of Callaway Tour Pros”.
Its longest journey is said to be 275 meters. Only 14 players on the LPGA average longer in 2023.

She played with hitter Bryson DeChambeau, Swedish professional Daniela Holmqvist, two-time long distance world champion Kyle Berkshire and other up-and-coming youngsters.
She caught up with Tiger Woods and fellow big winners Dustin Johnson and Patrick Reed. She, of course, shared the course with her “grandfather”.
They were part of a Pro-Am team ahead of the controversial LIV golf tournament at Trump’s Doral course in Florida.
Kai has played alongside Eric Trump, Sergio Garcia, recent U.S. PGA Champion Brooks Koepka and Secret Service agents.
Between them they shot 9 cents, the lowest score of the day.
The teenager claimed to end the round with five birdies; on the last hole, she saw her grandfather hit his approach shot before sticking his within 10 feet of the flagstick.
Trump’s course empire has allowed Kai to hone his skills and trick shots across America.

Some Palm Beach members suggested she was talented and dedicated enough to win a college scholarship.
Let’s hope Kai didn’t inherit his grandfather’s economic relationship with the label.
Winged Foot caddies in New York are said to have nicknamed Trump “Pele” – such was his habit of putting the balls back into play.
On his Bedminster course, which hosted another LIV tournament amid protests, Trump was accused of hitting his ball into a dugout, only to have his caddy lead him to a seat in the center of the fairway. Another member of his playgroup allegedly shouted, “What did you do with your mask and flippers?
Trump’s name also appears on Bedminster’s honor roll. The story goes that he never participated in any of the contests he “won”. Instead, he found out the winning score and said, “Oh, me and so and so played better than that today. So we won.
