There was a sickening moment early on in Forest Green Rovers’ League Two clash with Bolton when Jamille Matt sustained a horrifying hand injury.
Matt started at the front for Forest Green, but his game ended after just six minutes after an accidental collision with Bolton’s MJ Williams on Saturday.
After the collision, the 31-year-old Jamaican’s fingers appeared to be bent out of shape – with nauseating images showing the extent of the damage.

The attacker was visibly upset by the injury and after treatment on the field, Matt was then taken off on a stretcher.
Matt was replaced by Josh Davison on Saturday with just six minutes left at New Lawn Stadium.
The injury inevitably shocked fans who watched the game, and many took to social media afterward to comment on what they had just seen.

A fan of Rovers said: ‘The TV curse continues … After five minutes, our top scorer is stretched with a nasty injury. That’s a huge blow to Rovers so early in the game. Hopefully for Jamille Matt it is not as bad as it seems and he can recover quickly. ‘

Another said the injury ‘just ruined my day’, while another fan described it as ‘horrifying’.
It was a huge game for Forest Green and Bolton, with both teams chasing automatic promotion to League One.
But it was the Bolton visitors who eventually claimed all three points with a 1-0 victory thanks to Eoin Doyle’s goal in the 39th minute.
The win means Bolton took Rovers to third with a leap forward and is now just one point behind Cambridge United in the final automatic promotion spot.
It was an afternoon to forget for Matt, who entered the game and enjoyed his best season in front of goal.
Matt, who previously played for Fleetwood, Blackpool and Newport County, among others, has scored 15 goals this season.
