The reopening of the sector, including hotels and cinemas and pubs, is expected to boost the economy by £ 2.4 billion in the first month.

Customers are expected to spend an average of £ 167 per person in pubs and restaurants alone.

The bosses of Molson Coors, the UK’s second largest brewery, said production at the Staffordshire headquarters had gained momentum.

A spokesperson said, “At our Burton brewery alone, we now have 300,000 hectoliters of Carling in the tank, ready to be delivered – that’s over 50 million pints.”

The equivalent of more than eight billion pints – in both pub and license sales – were consumed in the UK in 2019.
