Reni Maitua has revealed that he was babysat by sex workers as a child, due to his father’s love of computer games.
Football legend Maitua, 41, revealed the anecdote on the BTFU podcast last week when talking about his younger days before becoming an NRL star.
Reflecting on those days spent in Sydney’s Kings Cross district, Maitua said: “My dad was obviously into the live music scene, I think mum was a bit of a groupie in Kings Cross.”
‘Mum said Dad used to come home from a concert at four or five in the morning and obviously I had been up all night screaming and crying.
“Then dad would take me back to the Cross because he loved Space Invaders, he would sit there playing with the computers all morning, but he would hand me over to some prostitutes upstairs and (they) would take care of me while dad played.” Space invaders.’

‘Dad was a good person, a great father. Basically, Mom said that prostitutes didn’t do heroin back then, so they were clean.
