Football great Paul Gallen has revealed why he has a bad relationship with his former Sharks teammate Chad Townsend.
Gallen, 42, who won an NRL championship with the midfielder in 2016, later labelled the Cowboys player securing a deal with the Roosters ahead of next season a “surprise signing”.
“Over time, you argue with guys and that’s part of life,” he said. Nine is 100% football.
‘You don’t always agree with people on certain things and Chad and I had a little argument a few years ago.
“We haven’t talked much since then, but what happens, happens.”
This comes after the footballer-turned-boxer raised eyebrows when he told 2GB Radio that the pair “don’t get along”.
“We won a championship together, but we don’t get along. Hats off to him for his career, he’s made the most of his talent,” Gallen told his listeners on June 6.
“He’s now going to be at the Roosters for another year. I think it’s a surprising signing.”

Talking about Triple M’s rush hour with AB and Elliott Townsend said there was no hard feelings on his part.
“To be honest, there is no truth to it,” he said.
“Gal and I have talked about it… we’ve cleared the air. We’re getting along, that’s all.”
Townsend has signed a one-year deal worth $300,000 with the Tricolores, who have rejected interest from the Bulldogs and Super League club Catalans Dragons.
He is expected to play a mentor role to young halves Sam Walker and Sandon Smith.
Townsend is also understood to want to work in the media once he hangs up his playing boots, and that was a key factor in his return to Sydney from North Queensland.
