Dane Swan has claimed that a person who lodged a complaint against several GWS Giants players after their ‘Wacky Wednesday’ party “deserves jail time”.
On Tuesday, it emerged that the AFL and the Giants were investigating a complaint surrounding the club’s end-of-season ‘Waddy Wednesday’ function.
The costume party was reportedly based on the theme “couples in trouble”, with claims emerging that some of the players at the event dressed up as former NRL star Jarryd Hayne and Australian NBA player Josh Giddey, who faced serious accusations about their behavior. with women before being exonerated.
Other costumes reportedly included players dressing up as the World Trade Center towers.
Hayne recently returned to rugby league after the former Parramatta Eels star was released from jail after his rape conviction was overturned.
Giddey was cleared of any wrongdoing by police after he was falsely accused of having an inappropriate relationship with an underage girl.
The GWS feature took place in a private room in a pub, and some players are alleged to have performed “disgusting skits”.

Dane Swan (pictured) has claimed that a person who made a complaint against several GWS Giants players after their “Wacky Wednesday” party “deserves jail time”.
One skit reportedly involved an inflatable doll, while one player is alleged to have referenced disgraced rapper Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs.
There is no allegation that any of the alleged conduct was criminal.
The AFL and the Giants have been conducting an investigation into the matter, and the club’s internal investigation initially cleared the players of any illegal activity.
But the Giants have since issued a statement, describing the allegations as “distressing” and “completely contrary to the club’s values.”
While the players involved have not been officially named, Nine News claimed that “up to six stars who were allegedly involved in the skits have been sanctioned.”
Former AFL star Swan took to social media to voice his opinion on the incident.
Captain Toby Greene is reportedly facing a $20,000 fine, but he was not directly involved in any of the allegedly offensive skits.
Greene is also said to have dressed up as Olympic star Rachael ‘Raygun’ Gunn (pictured).
Swan expressed his displeasure at the way the scandal came to light in a post on X.
“You have to hope these GWS guys slaughtered a live goat or something in this pub because these punishments are ridiculous by the standards at the moment,” Swan, who retired in 2016, wrote on X.
‘The waiter who betrayed them also deserves a prison sentence. “Something disgusting of all time at a private event,” he added.
GWS captain Toby Greene reportedly faces a $20,000 fine. While it is understood the captain was not directly involved in the skits, it is claimed the fine relates to “failing to show appropriate leadership”.
It has also been claimed that Greene had dressed up as Australian Olympic star Rachael ‘Raygun’ Gunn.
Daily Mail Australia has contacted GWS representatives, Greene and Gunn for comment.
It is understood the names of those facing bans will be made public in the coming days, with players currently making representations to the AFL about possible sanctions.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, GWS said: “The Giants confirmed yesterday that the club is aware of allegations of inappropriate behavior at the players’ end-of-season event last month.”
“The club is taking the matter very seriously and acted quickly upon receiving concerns.
“All parties have cooperated fully with the AFL to ensure the allegations are fully investigated,” the statement read.
Disgraced rapper Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs was reportedly the butt of a prank by a GWS Giants star who is now in hot water for his actions at the club’s Wacky Wednesday party.
Members of the GWS team are also said to have dressed up as former Fiji star Hayne, who was recently released from prison after his rape conviction was overturned.
‘Some of the accusations are worrying and totally contrary to the club’s values and policies.
‘There is also a level of misinformation and rumors circulating that is wholly inappropriate, especially while the investigation is ongoing.
“The club will make further comments once the results of the investigation are finalised.”
