Former Penrith NRL star Taylan May has been arrested and denied bail after being charged with allegedly breaching a domestic violence order on Saturday afternoon.
The former Panthers defender spent the night in jail and is due to appear in court on Sunday after being arrested in Emerton Village in Sydney’s western end.
‘At approximately 2.50pm (Saturday 24 August 2024), officers attached to Nepean Police Area Command were called to a shopping centre on Jersey Road, Emerton, following reports that a man allegedly breached an Admitted Domestic Violence Order (ADVO),’ NSW Police said in a statement to Daily Mail Australia.
‘The 23-year-old man was arrested and taken to Penrith Police Station where he was charged with contravening the AVO (national) ban/restriction.
‘He was refused bail to appear before Parramatta Local Court today (Sunday 25 August 2024).’
May was banned from playing under the NRL’s no-fault suspension policy after he was arrested in May and charged with punching his wife in the face during an argument on April 8 this year.
He was charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm and two counts of stalking or intimidating another person with intent to cause them to fear physical or mental harm.
May pleaded not guilty to all charges when he appeared at Penrith Local Court on May 28, and was due to appear in court on March 10 next year ahead of the alleged incident that led to his arrest on Saturday.

The development came after May (pictured during a game in May this year) was accused of allegedly punching his wife in the face in April.
May (pictured in Sydney in June) had signed an extension with the Panthers in March but the club parted ways with him in July.
The first charges came after he signed a two-year, $1.2 million extension with the Panthers in March.
May won a victory in the Federal Court in June when she obtained an injunction to prevent the club from holding a second hearing to discuss her dismissal.
The Panthers had issued him with a show-cause notice in relation to previous incidents which are understood to be unrelated to the alleged domestic violence charges but stem from a list of alleged off-field indiscretions since his NRL debut in 2021.
Penrith parted ways with him in July after both parties agreed a confidential settlement.
Last week he made headlines again when former Penrith star Josh Mansour made a heartfelt apology after announcing plans to publish an interview with May as part of the Let’s Trot podcast.
