Rising football star Tyrone Munro is in mourning following the sad death of his mother, Kirawhan Fernando.

South Sydney Rabbitohs announced that Fernando passed away on Wednesday, leaving their 19-year-old star and his family devastated.

Surprisingly, Munro has insisted he wants to play in the Bunnies’ game against the Penrith Panthers on Friday night.

Fernando is survived by four children, of whom Tyrone is the eldest. Souths said they were providing support to their player during this difficult period.

Munro took to Instagram to share her heartbreak on Thursday.

“Losing a mother is a pain that cannot be described in words. It is almost impossible to let go of the memory of losing the woman who sacrificed happiness in her own life so that you could have a better one,” she wrote.

“A mother’s love is truly irreplaceable. I love you, Mom…”

My siblings and I never thought this day would come. The beautiful angel mom was always trying to help everyone and make sure everyone was okay.

“If anyone knew my mom, they knew she would take her clothes off for anyone she wanted and she loved her family very much. My house was open all the time to anyone in my community and sometimes I would get mad at mom because my little cousins would steal my and my aunts’ clothes but mom wouldn’t tell me, she just acted like she didn’t know because she loved her family.

“I remember I kept looking for a pair of shoes and my mother wouldn’t buy them for me and she said, ‘Son, you’re never going to get anything in this world. If you want something, you have to work for it and earn it,’ and that’s what she instilled in me.

“And I carried all of that with me every day. I will never forget those moments and this list could go on and on. She was my rock, my heart, my soul, my mind and everything. Until we meet again, Mom.”

Souths have revealed that Munro’s teammates will wear black armbands in support of him on Friday.

“The South Sydney Rabbitohs will wear black armbands to commemorate Kirawhan’s life against the Panthers tomorrow night, and have offered the club’s full support to Tyrone and his immediate family at what is a very difficult time for them all,” the club said.

‘The South Sydney Rabbitohs offer their sincere and deepest condolences to the Caldwell and Fernando families, and extend those condolences to all of Kirawhan Fernando’s family and friends.’
