Kate Abdo broke down in tears while talking about her late father on an episode of her weekly football show ‘Kickin’ It’.
The CBS anchor, 42, was visibly emotional as she revealed how her father, Tom Giles, had passed away in December.
Abdo, who is a Manchester United fan, used to spend time traveling to Old Trafford with her father to watch the Red Devils in action.
The British broadcaster said the time she spent watching sport with her father meant “everything” to her and insisted it taught her a lot.
Talking about his father during the last episode of ‘Kicking it’Abdo said, “That’s why I was excited.” [thinking about my dad].

The 42-year-old CBS anchor was visibly emotional as she revealed how her father, Tom Giles, had passed away in December during a recent interview (pictured above).
He added: “I just lost my dad in December. The time I spent with him in sports was everything to me.
‘So hearing how much that meant to you was special. We all know that sports teach you character.
“A lot of what’s special about sport is that it teaches you determination, commitment and durability because you have to persevere at things.
‘What I enjoy about who my father was was the example he was for me. The good character he was to me. Also, the fun we had in those moments.
‘I’m divorced. I got married a while ago and he gave the speech at my wedding. One of the things he told me was that at some point in your life you will look back and never wish you had spent more time at work.
‘You will always value family in those moments you had. So yes. It’s great to hear what it means to another parent.
Abdo previously recalled how he grew up attending matches at Old Trafford with his father before admitting his mother was a Liverpool fan.
The CBS anchor also introduced her father to Peter Schmeichel as a special guest during her 2023 interview.
